Program Overview
This course introduces the
student to the fundamentals of Welding. It provides the student with
opportunities for hands-on training in shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and
oxyfuel gas welding. The student will receive training in welding and
machine shop safety practices. Prior to course completion, students will sit
for the ASW D1.1 Structural Steel Certification.

Welding Safety
| Students will: - Identify common hazards in welding
- Explain and identify proper personal protection used in welding

Oxyfuel Cutting | Students will: - Identify and explain the use of oxyfuel cutting equipment.
- Perform oxyfuel cutting: straight line and square shapes; piercing and slot cutting; bevels; washing; gouging.
