Workplace Literacy and Basic Skills Training Program

These free workshops are available through a partnership between the New Jersey Community College Consortium for Workforce and Economic Development, and the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development. Attendees must be employed by a registered New Jersey business and be paid for the time spent in training. Public and State employees are not eligible for this grant funded training, but there are other options available. Spanish for the Workplace Level 1
April 2 – May 23, 2024               
Tuesday & Thursday 4:00pm-6:30pm
This entry-level course includes activities such as dialogue, role-playing, narration, speech, and group discussion. Learn basic Spanish phrases used in conversation, as well as formal and informal greetings in Spanish. Also review basic phrases and questions used in everyday life.

Leadership Series: Managing Conflict with Confidence​

Many people see conflict as a negative experience. In fact, conflict is a necessary part of our personal growth and development. When this type of conflict arises, negative energy can result, causing hurt feelings and damaged relationships. What is Performance Management?

Performance Management is making sure the employee and the organization they are employed by are focused on the same priorities. It helps the employee set and meet goals and improves the employee/manager relationship. Performance Management will help close any gaps that exist in an employee's skill set and make them a more valuable employee through feedback and coaching.

This introductory course is designed for students with little or no previous knowledge of ASL.  This course teaches basic conversation, grammar, and vocabulary.  The focus is on expressive and receptive American Sign Language, fingerspelling, and the culture of the Deaf community.​   

​​Introduction to QuickBooks

You will learn the essentials of QuickBooks focusing on getting started and learning the most used tasks for operating a small business. Topics covered include an introduction to QuickBooks and working with customers, working with vendors, and performing banking tasks, managing physical inventory, using QuickBooks for Payroll, and setting up a new company file.​

Microsoft 365 Excel is a powerful and easy-to-use spreadsheet application. Nearly everyone who works with numbers has likely used Excel. By the end of this workshop, users will be comfortable creating new spreadsheets, working with basic formulas and functions, saving and printing.

Managing Multigenerational Employees

There are currently five generations in the workforce. As older workers delay retiring and younger workers are entering the workforce, the work environment has become a patchwork of varying perspectives and experiences, all valuable to say the least. This course will explore problems, solutions, and strategies to help overcome issues of the generation gap.
