  • Industrial Wastewater Treatment

    The NJDEP mandates that anyone applying for an industrial wastewater treatment system license complete an approved Industrial Wastewater Management course prior to taking the examination. This course helps prepare students for the certifying examination. Topics include introduction to monitoring, treatment processes, maintenance and safety and nitrogen & phosphorus removal.

  • Advanced Wastewater Collections NJDEP

    This NJDEP approved course will review all of the core competencies of wastewater collection and treatment objectives of state and federal regulations and requirements: and the source and general characteristics of wastewater. Additionally, the course will cover the wastewater collection system design, materials of construction along with lift stations, and force mains operations and maintenance. There will be a brief look at industrial wastewater monitoring and control; Operator hazards and general safety practices; and collection system management. Lastly, math formulas will be applied to specific problems related to wastewater collections system hydraulics and pumping. Books Included

    Water and wastewater treatment is the process of removing contaminants from wastewater, and includes physical, chemical, and biological removal processes. This course introduces the problem-solving concepts and tools commonly used in environmental engineering, present the fundamental operations and processes that are used, with a focus on water and wastewater treatment processes, and instills knowledge essential for basic understanding of environmental systems. The topics covered include an introduction to environmental engineering and environmental systems, materials and energy balances, reactors, hydraulic characteristics, and flow regimes, water use trends and projections, water chemistry concepts, water constituents and quality standards, and a review of physical, chemical, and biological treatment options. This course consists of maintenance and operational procedures of all components of water and wastewater systems. It prepares students for more advanced water and wastewater courses and training. In addition to providing students valuable experience, this course prepares students for T-1, W-1, C-1, and S-1 New Jersey licensing tests.
