High School Option Program

High School Option Program – Cumberland Campus

Program Overview

The High School Option Program (HSOP) provides high school students with the opportunity to take Rowan College of South Jersey courses at a discounted tuition rate. Completed courses under HSOP can be applied to an RCSJ associate degree or be easily transferred to other institutions of higher education. In addition, RCSJ credits may satisfy high school graduation requirements through the N.J. Department of Education's Option​​​​​ Two .

Please Note​: High School students may take advantage of HSOP during RCSJ's Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer semesters. Students age out after 18 years of age. The spring semester is the last term high school seniors can register for classes under the High School Option Program.

Courses Available for Enrollment

Students should consult the NJ Transfer website  to learn how Rowan College South Jersey courses will transfer to NJ institutions of higher education.  Students looking to transfer their Rowan College credit to institutions outside of NJ should consult their school of choice.

  1. ​Apply: ​​
    • All students are to complete an online application. Please select “Start a New High School Program” after creating an online account. An acceptance letter will be sent via mail within a week. The letter will include student email and Self-Service account information and instructions on how to set up all accounts.
    • Dual Enrollment Form - Complete a Dual Enrollment Permission Form. A school counselor and parent/guardian must sign the Dual Enrollment Permission Form. Return completed form to Rebecca Vezza at [email protected].
    • ​FERPA Form – Complete the FERPA Form​ and return to Rebecca Vezza at [email protected].​​
  2. Satisfy the Placement Test Requirement: 
    • All students are required to take RCSJ's placement test, the Accuplacer, or provide Proof of Exemption, before course registration can occur. Standardized test score reports and high school transcripts should be emailed to [email protected].
    • Schedule the Accuplacer – if you do not qualify for a testing exemption based on the established criteria (above)​, make your testing appointment by visiting www.rcsj.edu/cc/testing​ and click "Book an Appointment."  Photo ID required on the day of testing.​
  3. RCSJ Course Registration
    • Individual Appointments
      • Students who have completed steps 1 & 2 can Schedule an Appointment​ with Rebecca Vezza  for course registration. During the appointment, students are given a thorough overview of the registration process and payment information.
    • Registration Events
      • Speak with your high school Counseling Office for upcoming HSOP Registration Events.
