The college credit you earn through HSOP may qualify as a high school graduation requirement through the Option Two experience.
The New Jersey Department of Education's Option Two provides meaningful and relevant experiences outside of the traditional high school classroom with opportunities for students to explore and achieve at high levels. Contact your high school Guidance Counselor for more information on Option Two.
As of June 2009, N.J.A.C. 6A: 8-5.1 (a) 2 requires school districts to develop a policy that enables students to engage in educational experiences that serve as an alternative to traditional instruction. These experiences, known as Option II, are meant to be meaningful learning opportunities that support student achievement of local curricular goals, as well as the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS). Option II opportunities should meet or exceed local district-approved curricula aligned to the NJSLS.
