On Fri., Dec. 18, from 12–3 p.m., the community is invited
to “Spice it Up” with the Living Proof Recovery Center and join in on a tasty
holiday tradition. The Center, with its new location on Rowan College of South
Jersey’s (RCSJ) Gloucester campus, is hosting a virtual gingerbread decorating
contest – held via Zoom and open to anyone interested in some safe, seasonal
cheer.
The “Spice It Up” gingerbread decorating contest is a free
event, although registration is required to participate. Registered participants
will be emailed instructions to secure their contest packet with all the supplies
needed to craft a gingerbread masterpiece, available for pick up at the Living
Proof Recovery Centers in Voorhees or Sewell. On Dec. 18, confectionary
competitors can log into Zoom with their supply packet ready and pit their
gingerbread decorating skills against one another as they vie for contest
prizes and enjoy some socially distanced comradery.
Living Proof Recovery Center – a substance recovery program
offered through the Center for Family Services – opened their second location
on RCSJ’s Gloucester campus in September 2020. Operating out of the College’s
Workforce Development building, along with their main office in Voorhees, the
Center offers an array of free peer-led, volunteer-driven support programs for
individuals considering, entering or already in recovery. While many of Living
Proof’s workshops and support meetings have shifted to a virtual format due to
COVID-19, in-person meetings are still being hosted by appointment where
appropriate.
