RCSJ Student Account Activation - Cumberland Campus

STEP 1: Setup your Gmail Account

  1. Go to https://www.gmail.com

  2. At the Sign-in page, enter your RCSJ email address, and click Next.
    i.e. – [email protected]

  3. On the next page, click Forgot Password button.



  4. Then enter the recovery email address or an alternative email address that you provided to RCSJ during your college application process. Portions of the recovery email address is hidden. Click the Send button or choose Try another way.

    Choose to Get a Verification Code:

    • Google will offer different methods for identity verification. Choose to get a verification code sent to your recovery email address.
    • Google will show you a partially hidden recovery email address. Confirm that you have access to this email address, then click "Send."

  5. Check Your Recovery Email:

    • Open a new tab or window in your browser and sign in to your recovery email account (e.g., Yahoo, Outlook, another Gmail account, etc.).
    • Look for an email from Google with the subject line "Google Verification Code" or “Google Password Reset" or something similar. 

  6. Follow the instructions in the Email:

    • Open the email from Google and find the password security code.
    • Type the numerical code that Google gives you into the Gmail page you were previously at. Then, click Next. 

  7. ​Create a New Password:

    • Once you do this, you will be redirected to a page to create a new password.
    • Enter a strong, unique password and confirm it by entering it again in the second field.
      • Must be 12 characters or more
      • Must have one Uppercase and Lowercase letter
      • Must have one number
      • Must have one Special Character.
      • Must not use sequential numbers, your name, or birthdate
      • Click "Change Password." 



  8. Sign In with Your New Password:
    • After successfully changing your password, you will be redirected to the Gmail sign-in page.
    • Enter your RCSJ email address and the new password you just created.
    • Click "Next" to sign in. 

STEP 2: Setup your Self-Service Account

  1. Before resetting your RCSJ Cumberland Self-Service password make sure you can get into your RCSJ email account. A link will be sent to your college email allowing you to reset your Self-Service password.

  2. Click the Forgot your password?



  3. Enter your User Name. Enter your college email address. Click the Submit button.
    User Name is the name before the “@” symbol of your college email address.



  4. Check your RCSJ email account for the link to reset your password.

STEP 3: Setup your Blackboard Learn Account

  1. Go to the Cumberland Blackboard login page: https://bblearn.rcsj.edu

  2. Click on the Forgot Password? link, located beneath the Sign In button



  3. The Lost Password page will pop up, providing you with two options (you can scroll down on that page to see the second option).

    – For Option 1 you must supply your First Name, Last Name, and Blackboard username

    – For Option 2 you must supply your First Name, Last Name, and Cumberland email address

  4. Choose the option you prefer and enter the required information. Then hit Submit at the bottom of the page.

  5. Once you hit submit, you will see a page that looks like this:

  6. Log into your RCSJ-Cumberland email account and locate the email sent by “Blackboard Administrator”​



  7. The email will contain a link to create a new password for your account. Click the link and follow the instructions provided to create a secure password.

  8. After you create your new password, you will be sent back to the login screen. Enter your username and new password to login.
