In partnership with CCTEC’s Campus Safety and Security office, K-9 Meadow, is an additional tool the security staff uses to help ensure safety for all campus visitors.
Quick facts about K-9 Meadow
- Meadow will be on campus to provide enhanced safety and security.
- She was named to honor the memory of Meadow Pollack, one of 17 who was killed during the 2018 shooting at Parkland's Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida.
- Meadow is completing a program at the Atlantic County K-9 Training Academy, where they have been conducting training for more than 25 years.
- She is will graduate from the program on March 8, 2019, and is currently completing campus familiarization duties.
- She is the first full-time, dedicated school working K-9 in New Jersey.
- Her handler is a trained K-9 officer who maintains a daily relationship with Meadow and is by her side in every situation.
- Meadow lives with her handler and his family.
- She and her handler will be on campus on a regular basis throughout the academic day.
- While Meadow has a friendly temperament, when you see her on campus you should only interact with her after receiving approval from her official handler.
- Do not pet or feed her.
- Students who come in contact with her should act as if she is another officer on campus.
