VINELAND – Ron Jaworski's (Former Philadelphia Eagle) Foundation, Jaws Youth Playbook presented a check of $10,000 to the School Counts! Scholarship Program administered by the Cumberland County Campus Educational Foundation at Rowan College of South Jersey – Cumberland Campus. The School Counts! program is a unique scholarship created specifically for Cumberland County residents. It provides two-year tuition scholarships to RCSJ-Cumberland for students who earn four consecutive School Counts! certificates from 9 participating high schools.
“School Counts! helps you stay focused on your career path. It's so nice being able to go to school knowing my tuition is covered, and I can just focus strictly on school," Siani Feaster-Mason, School Counts! Scholarship recipient.
School Counts! exemplifies the core values that make the community strong. The program encourages and rewards high school students for the development of skills necessary for college success: punctuality, discipline, hard work, and motivation to achieve goals. In order to earn a School Counts! certificate in each year of high school, a student must:
- maintain a 95% or better attendance record;
- achieve a higher-than-average GPA;
- successfully complete Algebra I; and
- be scheduled to graduate from high school on time.
“There are lots of people out there who say, 'it really made a difference in my life'. And that's important. That's why I think School Counts! is so critical to this county, and certainly to this institution," School Counts! Advisory Board Chairman, Norman Neill.
