Deptford Twp. – Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) Director of Student Affairs & Military Services John Ryder was honored during a State of New Jersey Medal Ceremony on Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Deptford Mall—along with 22 other military members from various conflicts dating back to World War II.
Ryder, of Clayton, received the New Jersey State Distinguished Service Medal and the New Jersey Desert Storm Medal for participation in Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm in 1990-1991 as a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Port Security Unit deployed to Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. As the college's director of Military Services, Ryder encourages other veterans to take advantage of the many programs, services and resources available at RCSJ that support student success.
