VINELAND – Ms. Lilly Kejzman, Foundation Board member of the Cumberland Foundation, presented a check of $25,000 to the School Counts! Scholarship Program administered by the Cumberland County Campus Educational Foundation at Rowan College of South Jersey – Cumberland Campus. The School Counts! program is a unique scholarship created specifically for Cumberland County residents. It provides two-year tuition scholarships to RCSJ-Cumberland for students who earn four consecutive School Counts! certificates from 9 participating high schools.

“Words cannot express how thankful I am for the School Counts! scholarship. My education has always been important to me and receiving this award is very humbling. With the aid of this scholarship, I have gotten the chance to do many things such as being able to focus on my journey of achieving my future career of becoming a surgeon, and doing this by concentrating more on my school work," Briana Davy, School Counts! Scholarship recipient.

School Counts! exemplifies the core values that make the community strong. The program encourages and rewards high school students for the development of skills necessary for college success: punctuality, discipline, hard work, and motivation to achieve goals. In order to earn a School Counts! certificate in each year of high school, a student must:

  • maintain a 95% or better attendance record;
  • achieve a higher-than-average GPA;
  • successfully complete Algebra I; and
  • be scheduled to graduate from high school on time.

“You don't fully realize until you face-to-face see that difference in not only the students, the families. People who believe in you by being a donor care about giving students the opportunity to an education. We (The Foundation) really do pull through and we have done things that other colleges look to the Cumberland Foundation to do. There is a lot of heart here," Foundation Board member, Ms. Lilly Kejzman.
