General Transfer Process

The transfer process for all colleges and universities includes completion of a transfer application and submission of official transcripts from all higher education institutions that you've attended. However, each college and university might have additional requirements, including such things as a transfer application fee, letters of recommendation, personal statements, high school transcripts, etc. Please be sure to check with the university you're interested in to find out what their requirements are.

Generally, plan to apply for transfer at the beginning of the semester prior to the one in which you want to start at your new school. So, for example, if you want to start at your new school in August of 2022, you should plan to apply in January of 2022. If you want to start in January of 2023, plan to apply in September 2022.

New Jersey Transfer Agreement

The New Jersey state legislature passed the Statewide Transfer Agreement to ensure the transfer of academic credits between two-year community colleges and four-year senior public institutions.

Rowan University Transfer Process

Your application for most majors consists of Rowan University's online Transfer Application and copies of your Official Academic Transcripts from RCSJ.

Please note that Rowan requires copies of your official transcripts from all higher education institutions; if you had attended or earned credit from any other college or university, please contact them directly to have them send copies of your official transcripts.

If you have earned fewer than 24 credit hours, you will also be asked to submit your official high school transcripts. Additionally, Rowan recommends that all applicants complete the FAFSA.

In order to obtain general admission into Rowan University, transfer students must have successfully completed a minimum of 12 college-level credit hours with a GPA no lower than 2.0. However, there are a few majors that have additional requirements:

  • Performing Arts – Art, Music, Theatre, Dance, Music Industries
  • Engineering - Biomedical, Chemical, Civil & Environmental, Electrical & Computer, Engineering Entrepreneurship, Mechanical
    • 3.5 GPA for guaranteed admission
    • 3.0 – 3.49 GPA for consideration
    • Please note this application usually takes longer for the engineering admissions committee to review

A few days after doing this, log back into the same application portal, and find a list of things to do. Among them is signing up for a remote advising appointment with your new Rowan University Advisor.
