Rowan College of South Jersey–Cumberland campus band members tune up for 41st season of musical performances.

Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) will present an evening of jazz standards on Friday, Oct. 20. This jazz-eriffic program is free to the public and will take place in Boscov’s court at the Cumberland Mall, in Vineland, beginning at 7 p.m.

The harmonious musicianship of the RCSJ–Cumberland campus’s Jazz Band, which features an array of amazing instrumentalists and vocalists, will be on full display during the concert.

“The Cumberland campus bands are beginning their 41st performance season and are excited to bring an evening of jazz to the community,” said Joseph Akinskas, adjunct professor, music education, and campus band director.

The collection of music that will be played is from the “Great American Songbook.” The program will include Latino and Jazz-Pop repertoire, as well.

“Examples of our performance repertoire will include “Bandstand Boogie,” “Mack the Knife,” “My Way,” and “Copacabana" among a host of other jazz standards,” Akinskas said.
