Marine Science, A.S. (Gloucester)

​An associate degree in Marine Science provides students with a foundation of study in the physical, biological and chemical sciences as well as an understanding of the marine environment and its interactions with the earth, biosphere and atmosphere. This major prepares students with a broad curriculum in the sciences, with an understanding of marine life and its adaptations, and for transfer to a four-year institution or employment in the industry.

Program Goals
Students who have completed the program will be able to:

  • Apply a scientific foundation to support upper-level study in marine science as well as related disciplines
  • Define marine ecosystems and the diversity of marine organisms
  • Integrate learned material with current research to formulate ideas concerning a sustainable future
