The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Division at Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) is at the forefront of preparing students to succeed in skill-specific, high-growth industries by providing core academics, employability coaching, technical training, and adult education opportunities.
“RCSJ recognizes the importance of partnering with businesses and industry to train students for jobs that require technical skills," said Brenden Rickards, Ph.D., Vice President and Provost, Academic Services. "To further bolster the relationships with our industry partners and to develop in-demand academic programming to train the skilled workforce necessary for industrial growth, RCSJ is pleased to announce the establishment of a Career and Technical Education Division."
According to reports, the labor market increasingly demands skilled workers who have some postsecondary education or training, although not necessarily a four-year degree.
With a combination of academic degree and certificate programs, career-oriented pathways and personal enrichment courses, CTE is designed to provide individuals with diverse and customizable programs that meet their specific needs.
"The goal of RCSJ's new division will be to develop and offer both non-credit and credit-bearing programming designed to customize student training to the upcoming workforce requirements as identified as necessary by our workforce partners," added Rickards. "This will further support the economic growth of southern New Jersey by enhancing the skilled training available to our residents."
RCSJ has grown its portfolio of career and technical course offerings following the academic redesign for the Fall 2020 semester. The courses span a wide variety of career pathways that are available to students.
