High School Option Program

What is HSOP?
The High School Option Program (HSOP) gives all high school students the flexibility to take Rowan College of South Jersey courses at a discounted tuition rate—whether they want to take just one college course or begin working toward a degree. Completed courses can be applied to an RCSJ degree or transferred to other higher education institutions. Students gain valuable college experience, earn credits, and learn how to navigate college before high school graduation.

Step One: Apply and Submit Official Documents
- Visit RCSJ.edu/Apply and select "Start Application"
- Create and Activate an Application Profile
- Submit a General Application
To apply, Students must use a valid, personal email address and cell phone number. Please check this personal email for communications on your next step.
- Submit the following documents to the Office of Admissions:
- Official high school transcript or high school equivalency and any college transcripts
- Completed Immunization Record Form
- Standardized Test Scores (see step 3 for more information)

Step Two: Apply for Financial Aid
- Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at studentaid.gov
- Use School Code: 006901
- Log into NJFAMS to complete state requirements at njfams.hesaa.org
- NJ Dreamers and DACA students should complete the NJ Alternative Application at hesaa.org
- Complete the RCSJ Scholarship Application at RCSJ.edu/Scholarships

Step Three: Satisfy the Placement Test Requirement!
All students are required to take the Accuplacer, or provide proof of exemption, to determine
proper course placement- Visit RCSJ.edu/Exemptions. and submit proper documentation to the Office of Admissions

- Receive a tuition discount of $75 per credit and no course/lab fees
- However a $23 per credit fee is charged forFirst Day Complete, RCSJ's textbook and course material program
- Access to an unlimited number of courses during RCSJ's fall, winter, spring, and summer semesters
- Satisfy requirements:
- college degree requirements
- high school graduation requirements (speak with your HS counselor)
- Complete required remediation, if applicable
- Explore career pathways by taking program specific courses
- Career and major exploration assessments are also available to help students better understand their interests
- Personalized academic advisement & registration assistance

- Full and free access to all Rowan College services, clubs and activities
- Participation in RCSJ Athletics is not available to HSOP students

- Students 14 to 18 years of age
- The spring semester of the senior year is the last opportunity to enroll as an HSOP student

Students should consult the NJ Transfer website to learn how Rowan College South Jersey courses will transfer to NJ institutions of higher education.
Students looking to transfer their Rowan College credit to institutions outside of NJ should consult their school of choice.
